Akkaraipattu Beach is a shared space for the community, visitors, and those who depend on the sea for their livelihood. This one-day initiative focused on restoring the cleanliness of the الساحil while bringing together volunteers and local stakeholders to take collective responsibility for the coastal environment. With support from local authorities and community members, the activity created a practical space for youth to engage directly in environmental care.

Why This Mattered

Coastal pollution affects not just the appearance of the beach but also marine life, fishing activities, and public health. Over time, unmanaged waste can damage ecosystems and reduce the usability of shared spaces. This initiative addressed both the visible waste problem and the need for stronger environmental awareness within the community.

What We Did

Organized a coordinated beach cleaning effort with youth volunteers
Collected and disposed of waste using gloves, bags, and cleaning tools
Worked alongside municipal representatives for proper waste handling
Provided safety items such as masks and first aid support during the activity
